About the Position

The Driver will be responsible for transporting staff and materials safely within and outside program areas, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to GOAL Ethiopia’s driving policies.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Vehicle Management

  • Drive responsibly, following all traffic rules and internal driving policies.

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out.

  • Ensure proper fueling and maintain accurate fuel vouchers/logs.

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and record trip details in the logbook.

Security & Communication

  • Plan trips with safety in mind (no night driving after 18:00 unless authorized).

  • Ensure spare tire, jack, and communication tools are in the vehicle.

  • Report trip progress regularly and immediately report incidents or security issues.

Financial & Administrative

  • Submit receipts for all vehicle-related expenses.

  • Maintain a full log of trips and ensure vehicle return to the compound daily.

  • Comply with GOAL’s Driver Policy and uphold professional conduct.

Accidents

  • Immediately notify the Line Manager of any accidents.

  • Complete detailed accident reports.

Transport of Goods

  • Verify goods with packing lists and ensure proper handover upon delivery.

Qualification & Skills

  • Certificate in Driving/Mechanics.

  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge.

  • Valid driver’s license for relevant vehicles.

  • 4×4 driving experience & winch operation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and staff management skills.

  • Preference: Candidates from the local area (Metema-Gendawuha).
