Duties & Responsibilities
The Agricultural Specialist represents the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa (Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia). Key duties include:
- Monitor and analyze agricultural market and trade policy developments.
- Prepare highly specialized reports on agricultural commodities.
- Work with government agencies to resolve trade complaints and non-compliance issues.
- Administer market development programs.
- Maintain high-level professional relationships for trade policy matters.
Job Requirements
🎓 Education
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Food & Agricultural Marketing, Agriculture, Agribusiness, International Trade, or Public Policy is required.
📅 Experience
Minimum Five (5) Years of work experience in agricultural economics, policy, commodity trade, or marketing analysis/research.
🗣️ Language & Skills
- Fluent English & Amharic (Speaking/Reading/Writing).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze complex statistical data and trade concepts.
