The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was laid out by government order on 8 July 1935 in the repercussions of the second Italian hostility over Ethiopia. ERCS started by offering philanthropic types of assistance to injured warriors and regular citizen casualties. That very year on the 25 September 1935, ERCS was formally acknowledged as the 48th individual from the Global League of Red Cross and Red Sickle Social orders.
ERCS is assistant to the public authority but it is an autonomous compassionate association. It was laid out and perceived by regulation through a Public Sanction took on in 31 October 1947. The Sanction has gone through different parliamentary modifications, the last being in 1999. The ongoing Sanction was supported by the Parliament in January 2018.
