Originally founded in 1946 under the Swedish Embassy in Ethiopia, Kelem International School (KIS) is a pre-KG through Grade 8 institution that reopened as a stand-alone, non-profit institution in July 2019.

For the upcoming academic year 2024–2025, we are presently looking for a French teacher.

Our goal is to develop into a cooperative educational hub in Ethiopia where every child grows up to be a self-assured, self-aware global citizen. Our goal is to help each child reach their greatest potential and to create resilient, inquisitive, receptive, and thoughtful students who can express themselves completely and successfully.

In order to be adaptive in a world that is changing quickly, we want our students to be able to think critically, analyze, and solve problems creatively. By encouraging our teachers and staff to pursue ongoing professional development, our school sets an example for our students that learning is a lifelong pursuit.

Our school strives to create globally conscious, responsible individuals who respect and acknowledge Ethiopia’s rich cultural legacy.

There are currently 175 students, representing 28 different nationalities. Kelem International School uses the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for kindergarten and the Finnish curriculum combined with international standards for grades 1–8.
